Mentoring is a one-on-one relationship between a youth and a caring adult. It's a reciprocal relationship with rewards for both the mentor and the mentee! Legacy Youth Mentoring, formerly known as Lindsay's Legacy Mentoring, inspires lives through friendship building while helping youth discover personal strengths & develop the skills they need to succeed.
Through friendship based, in-school mentoring we can help close the mentoring gap in our community while guiding our kids toward personal and academic success.
Check out our video! Legacy mentors & mentees speak about the impact of mentoring in their own lives.
We envision a Jackson County community where every youth will have a mentoring friendship and know with certainty that someone cares about them and wants to help them achieve personal success.
By fostering the development of strong relationships with adult role models we will see significant changes in youth behavior and success rates according to a recent report from The National Mentoring Partnership. On a yearly basis, Legacy Youth Mentoring serves over 200 students in Jackson County, Georgia with caring volunteer mentors in the 18 schools we serve.
“What can you accomplish in a half hour every week?”
Inspire a life.
Live out your legacy.
Legacy Youth Mentoring, formerly known as Lindsay's Legacy Mentoring was started in 2004/2005 by a handful of caring citizens working through Jackson County Family Connection. It was named in memory of Mr. Jack Lindsay, founder of The Potters House and director of a youth mentoring program that served students in the 1990's. In March of 2012, Lindsay's Legacy Mentoring Inc. was established as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. In 2017, after research and extensive feedback, the board of directors voted to refresh our brand to Legacy Youth Mentoring for clarity of meaning and purpose as we recruit mentors in a growing community and beyond. Through grants and partnerships with businesses, individuals, 18 schools and local foundations we have been able to serve hundreds of students each year with strong mentoring relationships. We look forward to inspiring lives for many more years to come!
