Is Mentoring Right for Your Child?

If you are a parent or guardian of a student in the Jackson County, Jefferson City, or Commerce City School Systems, we invite you to explore the impact of a mentoring friendship.

A mentor provides your child with an extra layer of support—someone to listen, encourage, and walk alongside them during their school journey.

How to Get Started

To request a mentor for your child, please follow these three simple steps:

  1. Contact the School: Send an email to your child’s School Counselor including your student’s full name and current grade level.

  2. Join the Waiting List: Your counselor will place your child on our mentor waiting list.

  3. Submit Consent: Download and sign the Parent/Guardian Consent Form below. This must be returned to the school counselor before a match can be made.

Understanding the Matching Process

Because our mentors are dedicated community volunteers, we cannot guarantee an immediate match or a specific timeline. Matches are made by the school counselor as new, screened mentors become available at your child’s specific school.

We look forward to the possibility of welcoming your student into the Legacy Youth Mentoring family!
