What it looks like to be a mentor.

Becoming a mentor is a rewarding commitment that usually fits into your schedule, as we offer flexible visit options. To ensure the best experience for both you and your student, we walk you through a few essential steps:

1. Getting Equipped

Before you start, we’ll provide you with everything you need. You’ll attend a one-hour new-mentor training session where we equip you with the resources and confidence to build a meaningful relationship.

  • See our upcoming training sessions below!

2. Keeping Students Safe

Because we prioritize student safety, all mentors undergo a screening process, including a National Criminal Background Check and agreement with our policies and procedures.

3. Showing Up

Consistency is key to a meaningful friendship. You’ll meet with your student at the school of your choice for just 30 minutes a week (about two to four times a month). We work with school counselors in each of the 20 schools we serve who help to make the mentor/ mentee matches. They will also be your school contact person & introduce you to your student.
